"Sustainable Agriculture?"

Image
This term in my humanities class, we were focusing on a unit called Food for Thought. In my Food For Thought class, we are currently in Unit 2, which is called Death. We learned about the Irish Potato Famine, the Atlantic Slave Trade, and Chattel slavery. All these steps lead up to our action project, Sustainable Development Goal 2. I choose SDG 2.4, which is about making sure farms are producing food under the sustainable food, production and resilient agricultural practices. CH. "Video." 2019. CH. Biscuits on the Rise

In unit two of our Food class, we learned all about baking, pH scales, and. During our unit, we visited Big Delicious Planet where we got to take a look at their garden which is where they get some of their food and we also got to take a look at their kitchen where everything is prepped, stored and shipped off to wherever it needs to be. We also went to a homeless shelter and talked to the main baker that would cook for over 500 people a day. For our AP we had to take a biscuit recipe and substitute one of the ingredients for a completely different ingredient. We then had to observe what changes happened between our original(controlled) recipe and experimental recipe. I hope you enjoy and learn more about baking within this AP. CH. Why should I learn about Art?

Image
10 reasons why the arts in schools is so important: Working in the arts helps learners to develop creative problem-solving skills. Teaching through the arts can present difficult concepts visually, making them more easy to understand. Art instruction helps children with the development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness. Visual arts teach learners about color, layout, perspective, and balance all techniques that are necessary for presentations (visual, digital) of academic work. Integrating art with other disciplines reaches students who might not otherwise be engaged in classwork. Arts experiences boost critical thinking, teaching students to take the time to be more careful and thorough in how they observe the world. The arts provide challenges for learners at all levels. Art education connects students with their own culture as well as with the wider world. A report by Americans for the Arts states that yo...

Earth 2.0

In my STEAM course, we currently have a class called Fuel. During this unit, we have been learning about inequalities, the carbon cycle, the laws of conservation of energy, and balancing chemical equations. Throughout this class, I have learned a lot about different sources and types of fuel and energy. We went on an FE where we walked around schools nieghborhood and looked for different forms of pollution. Currently, the definition of pollution is any substance is in the wrong place or concentration in the environment. Throughout this unit, I have learned there is a lot more "invisible" pollution affecting our earth. For this Action Project, we had to talk about a plan for possibly reducing our carbon footprints. Hope you enjoy my essay! CH. "Essay." 2019

Sweet Dreams

In my humanities class, we had a unit called Who Am I? This unit was focusing on truth, memory, doubts, and dreams. This project specifically focuses on doubts and dreams. We visited the Art Institute of Chicago to learn about different surrealist artists from the early 18th and 19th centuries. We interpreted their reasoning behind their art piece. We also visited the American Indian Center in Albany Park to learn about the history behind dreamcatchers, the Ojibwe, and cultural appropriation. For this action project, my teacher asked us to create a dreamcatcher that symbolizes something personal to each of us. We had to connect it back to what we learned throughout this unit. I hope you enjoy it!     CH. "Sweet Dreams, Issuu." 2019 In conclusion, I learned a lot during this AP. I learned about the Ojibwe culture around dreamcatchers and the Great Spider. As well as the theories of many psychologists. This helped me explore what within my life has he...
