Space Debris Science Conference

Image
Welcome to the third action project for my STEAM class, Frontiers. This class is about exploration. This project connects directly to my second action project, Space Junk . For this action project, I had to create a poster based on a research paper I created this term. I choose my most recent paper on space exploration. In this paper, I choose to focus on space debris and how this affects space exploration. This poster summarizes my research paper.  CH."Space Debris Poster." Google Slides, 2022. I enjoyed completing this poster. I have a great interest in space, so putting together this poster was fun for me. I believed I have managed my time well with this project as I did include the feedback given to me by my teacher.

Use, Reuse, Recycle, Repeat

In the second unit of my Economics class, we focused on matrices, learned the history of economics, and how modern economists and economics have developed. Our class visited The Plant Chicago on a field experience to learn more about circular economies. In our class we also read Doughnut Economics: Seven Ways to Think Like a 21st Century Economist by Kate Raworth. Students were paired off into groups and every group was tasked with reading, summarizing, and explaining a chapter to the class. After the presentations, we were then presented with our action project. For this project, we had to create an idea for the eighth chapter in Doughnut Economics. All though we did not have to write out a whole chapter ourselves. We were tasked with writing out the introduction/summary to the chapter that would go into the book as well as creating an image related to our idea. I hope you enjoy my project! --------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 8 Use, Reuse, Recycle, Repea...

Me and my ADHD

Welcome to my second action project for Disease. We just wrapped up our second unit called Mind. In Mind, we looked at the brain and focused different parts of the brain. Our main resource was the DMX-V file which is a textbook that has a long list of mental illnesses, including their symptoms. This book is often used by medical professionals when studying mental illnesses. In this unit, we looked into different mental illnesses specially autism and we chose one that we wanted to research on our own. We looked deeply into autism and read a book by Naoki Nigashida called, The Reason I Jump. I chose to research attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). I made a simulation and did a lot of research on what it's like to live with ADHD. ADHD The scientific definition for ADHD is, "ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder defined by impairing levels of inattention, disorganization, and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity." My definition is that someone with ADHD has "differen...

LIFE IS WATER; When You Conserve Water, You Conserve Life!

My nearest water source is 3.36 miles away, that would take me an hour and ten minutes to walk to the river to collect water. It would take me about 3 and 30 minutes to walk back with more than 3 gallons of water in my hands. It would take 3 times as long if I was carrying water. I calculated this by taking the time it took to walk from our school to the river without water, and then I compared it to the time walking from the river to the school with water. When we did not have water, it took 6 minutes to walk from school to the river. When we did have water, it took us 18 minutes which is three times as long walking without water. The average person in the USA uses 152 gallons a day. That is 575 liters and is equal to 1267.68 pounds. The average person in the UK uses 150 liters a day. That is about 40 gallons and is equal to 333.6 pounds. Many people think that the UK has a lot of different places and a lot of different people. But after studying the water usage of people all ove...
