Take the Money - Bennie

In our class Drama, we read the play, A Raisin in the Sun. This play examined gender roles, as well as the way race played a role in our society in the past and in the current day. We also had virtual FE guests Regina Holloway and Joel Hamernick come and speak to us about restrictive covenants in Chicago and how specific laws were put in place to keep black families out of white neighborhoods.  In the play, Mama has bought a new house in an all white neighborhood. Mr. Linder, the "welcoming committee" from this neighborhood is trying to get the Younger family to sell the house back to the community. For our action project, I have written a letter to Walter Younger to convince him on whether he should or should not sell the house to Mr. Linder. I decided to write the letter from the view of Beneatha. This letter is directed to Walter who has the final decision of whether the house is sold or not. I hope this letter can show you why Walter should sell the house to Mr. Linder.  ...

Patient B

In my STEAM class, Cure, this has definitely been an interesting unit to learn through e-learning. We studied the Hippocratic oath and the difference between a doctor and a healer. We learned about cell's, mitosis and meiosis, and practiced conic sections. We took virtual FE's and spoke with Dr. Neeraj Jain, a doctor who specializes in pain medicine at Hinsdale hospital. As well as Kellee Athens, who is very knowledgeable about the Zika Pandemic. For this AP we were tasked with choosing a surgery and studying it very thoroughly. We had to explain a person that had has had this surgery performed, and how there organs, tissues, and cells were affected by the surgery. I choose a Hip Arthroscopy because it is a procedure were I have easy access many things that I could use as my primary sources. I believe that is what makes this project and this procedure super interesting. CH. "Slideshow." 2020 In conclusion, this was definitely both a challenging and interesting project...

Oh, Fair Kate - A Sonnet

In Unit 1 of Drama we looked at a play called Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare. As we read through the play we came upon some interesting questions about gender equality and how it has evolved since the Elizabethan Era to modern day times. We also looked at sonnets and how Shakespeare used iambic pentameter. For our first AP, we had to create a sonnet that was address to one of the characters in Taming of the Shrew  as well as address gender issues that where raised in the play. This was a very interesting class and AP to complete due to the global pandemic and all schools being moved to virtual and e-learning. I hope you enjoy this AP in these difficult times and stay safe! CH. "A Sonnet." WEVIDEO, Youtube. 2020 Oh, Fair Kate Katherine, at first you were such a big shrew , Speaking out against everyone around. Today, we know you were just being you. Back then they just told you to settle down. Now when you say, “Thy husband is thy lord.” Was it because yo...
