So Sweet!

I love Pitbulls! When I was born, I was welcomed home by the warmth of two Pitbull mixes. They ended up becoming my best friends from day one. After 10 years, and 5 new human additions to my family. We continue to have Pitbulls that will protect and cuddle with my family till the end of time.

Hello! For the first STEAM class of the year, Population, we learned about taxonomy, set theory, quadrilaterals, and biology. To prepare for this class over the summer we read In the Shadow of Man by Jane Goodall.  We also went on our first FE to the Lincoln Park Zoo where we chose the animal we would study for our AP. We then continued to study our animal by visiting the  Field Museum to observe the taxidermy animal we had chosen. For our AP we had to create a project explaining the taxonomy of the animal of choice. I chose Hoffman's two-toed sloth because I think sloths are really interesting. In the project, you will read about Hoffman's two-toed sloth, its habitat, taxonomic categories, and the morphological traits that show the taxonomic categories. Welcome to my first action project (AP) for Unit 1 of my senior Journalism class. In this class, we learned about news literacy and how to identify if a news source is credible. We watched the movie spotlight to learn about what a journalist does when investigating a source. We also talked with Julie Wernau, a reporter at the Wall Street Journal, and learned about how we could write unbiased news pieces. To wrap up this unit we were tasked with investigating and writing a news article about something that affects our neighborhood. I chose to write my article about Mexican Independence Day which takes place annually on September 16th. This event is important to Chicago because Chicago now has the second largest population of Mexican immigrants in the United States (after Los Angeles), with around 628,000 recorded between 2014-2018, according to the Migration Policy Institute. Hello! My first Humanities class of the year is Stories. In this class, we learned about etiologies, adjectives, adverbs, similes, metaphors, sentence structure, and proper grammar. To prepare for this class, over the summer we read Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. We also had our first FE where storyteller came to talk to us about descriptive writing and how we could better our AP's through storytelling. For our second FE, we visited the Field Museum and learned about the origin stories within other cultures at the museum. For our first AP, we were tasked with creating our very own etiology stories. We are doing this AP to show our understanding of etiologies and storytelling as well as proper grammar and sentence structure. I hope you enjoy my story as much as I do!
